The Ceremony at Llangollen Railway

We love the Llangollen Steam Railway.  Nothing makes you smile more on a gloomy day than seeing its puff of smoke from the living room and hearing its cheerful 'toooot toooot' echo through the valley!

However, the ceremony room is quite small and the station in Llanogllen is a public venue, that will be in use for normal business on the day of our wedding.  Therefore, while we would love to have everybody with us for this part of the day, we have been asked not to invite any guests to the station other than those coming to the ceremony.  If you are coming to the ceremony, please be seated by 1.45pm, ready for it to start at 2pm.  If you are not coming to the ceremony, we look forward to seeing you at the reception.

Parking

For the ceremony - Parking in Llangollen during the summer can be a bit of a nightmare.  For the ceremony, we would suggest parking in the front carpark of the Llangollen Pavillion (LL20 8SW), a little bit further along Abbey Road.  It is a pay-and-display carpark, but prices in Llangollen are pretty cheap!  It is a walk of a few minutes, either along the pavement or through the cut-through by the pavilion building.  The pavilion is hard to miss - it's a big white building that looks like a pasty-shaped tent!

For the reception - Parking will be on grass next to the field.  Please park sensibly, as people also live on site.  We will try to have separate areas for those leaving their cars overnight and those needing their cars at the end of the evening, to try to ensure nobody gets blocked in.  Please don't park or drive on the field, unless specifically directed to on the day.

Taxis - There are not many taxi firms in Llangollen, and there is at least one other wedding in the area that weekend, so if you need a taxi at the end of the night, we suggest that you book it ASAP!  Do NOT leave it until that night, or you are unlikely to get a taxi.  Local firms are: Premier Cars (01978 861999), LLangollen Taxis (01978 861018) and Acid Travel (never heard of them!) (01978 861497).

Reception

Footwear - The field that the reception is held in is technically a sheep field, although no sheep have been in there for years!  There is flooring in the marquee but please make sure you have appropriate footwear so you can enjoy the games outside on the grass and are still able to dance the night away afterwards!

Weather - Remember, you're coming to Wales!  We've already had one week of summer this year so there's no guarentee that we're going to get any more!  We plan to continue partying, whatever the weather and hope that you'll join us in this!

Food - Everything at our wedding is being provided by family, friends or friends of friends.  A friend is providing the main food, but we've asked everybody to bring something along to help.  Please check your emails to discover which elite squadron you've been assigned to!

Bar - We will be providing welcome drinks, wine at dinner, cask beer and a bit of cider.  If you would like anything stronger or something special, including soft drinks and mixers, please feel free to bring these along.

Camping - Please feel free to arrive early to pitch your tent and chill out in the field.  PLease note, this is not an official campsite.  There are toilet and water facilities, but no showers.

The River Dee - The field is bounded by the River Dee, the river that forms the valley and bisects LLangollen.  Most of the bank is headged, but there is an access point.  While there will be numerous people with the skills and qualifications to rescue you should you fall in, please remember that they will have been drinking!  Therefore, please take care while near the river!

Roundhouse - There is a roundhosue with a fire circle.  Please don't burn yourself!

Children

Children are more than welcome to help celebrate our day, but please do remember that we know very little about looking after the small ones!  Therefore, if your child needs something special, like food or a highchair, please bring it with you!  Also, as mentioned above, there is access to the river that bounds the site, and a roundhouse with a fire circle, so please make sure your children are supervised at all times.

The Morning After - Breakfast

On Sunday morning, we are planning on having a griddle available, with bacon and bread, so we can all have bacon sarnies and recover slowly before people have to head home.  If you are not camping on site, please feel free to pop back, have a sandwich or two and relax before saying goodbye.
